Graduating high school seniors will be notified of their award in late May. Returning college students will be notified of their award in mid-August.

Each spring, we hold an Awards Ceremony to honor that year’s NSA scholarship recipients. Our donors are encouraged to attend. The Awards Ceremony is a wonderful opportunity for us to recognize our outstanding students and connect them with their award donors.

NSA awards are non-transferable and paid directly to the institution the student attends and applied to the student’s tuition, room, and board cost. Scholarships are paid in two installments:

First Installment is sent in August.

Second Installment is sent in December. All scholarship recipients are required to confirm by November 15 that they are returning to the same college or technical school by emailing awards@newtownscholarship.org. (Note: Awards of $750 or less are paid in one installment for the fall semester only.)

If the student decides to transfer or not return to college after their application has been submitted, they must inform the NSA Awards Committee. Those transferring will need to submit updated college and award information for the institution they are attending for a reevaluation of their award.

Awards are for one academic year only. Students must reapply annually to be eligible for a scholarship during their sophomore, junior, and senior years. Each year, we consider the applicant’s current financial situation when determining the renewal of a scholarship.
